In 1945 hundreds of British scientists were seconded into the Forces and sent to Germany to find and bring back anything of value as part of the intellectual reparations programme. My grandfather, an industrial chemist, was among them.

All of the German characters and American military characters in this story are real and placed accurately chronologically and geographically. All of the evidence about the scientist’s wartime activities, and its cover up, is genuine and resides in the US National Archive, the archives of NASA, the US Justice Department, and the FBI.
